From Ducati radio parts to motorcycles sold online

Ducati started out producing radio components in1926 based on Adriano Ducati’s patents. The company enjoyed international growth until World War II, when their factories were bombed and completely destroyed.

Looking for new opportunities after the war, the company started producing small gasoline engines for bicycles. These engines were popular enough to lead to an expansion of the factory. Soon the Ducati brothers manufactured frames and constructed entire motorcycles, consistently improving the size and sophistication. Eventually, they successfully participated in motorcycle races around the world and quickly rose to prestige in the racing arena due to their popular dual overhead cam system.

Ducati motorcycles are famous for their stylish Italian looks and high speed, clearly distinguishing the company as one of the major European motorcycle manufacturers. By recognizing the power of the internet and producing a model exclusively for sale on the Internet, Ducati successfully launched the MH900e with 2,000 customers reserving the new motorcycle online in as the new millennium was rung in. Needless to say, ducati.com has established Ducati as a major player on the World Wide Web, as well as in the world of motorcycles.
